May 07, 2025 (MLN): Global leaders have voiced their reactions to the escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan, following India's missile strikes early Wednesday in response to last month’s deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir.
Pakistan, confirming eight casualties, stated it is responding to the Indian strikes.
U.S. President Donald Trump called the situation "a shame," noting, "They've been fighting for many, many decades. I hope it ends very quickly."
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed Trump’s remarks, stating he is "monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely" and will continue engaging both sides toward a peaceful resolution.
A spokesperson for U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the Secretary-General is "very concerned about the Indian military operations across the Line of Control and international border" and urged both countries to exercise "maximum military restraint," warning that the world cannot afford a military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed states.
Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi condemned the April 22 terrorist attack in Kashmir and expressed strong concern that the current situation could escalate into a full-scale military conflict.
He called on both nations to show restraint and stabilize the region through dialogue, as Reuters reported.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson described India’s military operation as “regrettable” and called on both India and Pakistan to “remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation.”
Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, expressed support for India’s right to self-defense, stating that "terrorists should know there's no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent."
