Foreign Direct Investment in Pakistan declines by 65.3% MoM during October

November 18, 2019 (MLN): The total Foreign Investment in Pakistan during the month of October, 2019 totaled $215.8 million, which signifies a decline of 65.3% as compared to the previous month. On a year-on-year basis, this amount is laud-worthy as there was an outflow of $451.7 million during October, 2018.

According to the data compiled by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total Foreign Private Investment in Pakistan amounted to $100.9 million, i.e. nearly 73% lower than the amount recorded in the previous month. Within the Foreign Private Investment, the Direct Investment equaled $108 million whereas Portfolio Investment depicted an outflow of $7.1 million.

On the other hand, the overall Foreign Public investment was recorded at $114.9 million, i.e. 54.2% lower as compared to the previous month.

All in all, the total Foreign Direct Investment during the current Fiscal year 2020 has reached $1,102.4 million.
