FinMin denies reports on salary, pension statement

March 18, 2025 (MLN): The Ministry of Finance has issued an official clarification regarding recent media reports claiming that Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb suggested there would be no increase in salaries and pensions for government employees in the upcoming fiscal year.

The clarification, refutes these claims, stating that the finance minister did not make such a statement.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the finance minister made no such announcement or statement while addressing the National Assembly.

The ministry emphasized that the news reports attributing such remarks to him are not based on facts, according to the press release.

Furthermore, the ministry clarified that during his speech, the finance minister did not discuss any revisions to pay scales or salary increases for government employees.

The Ministry of Finance also stated that a written response was provided in the National Assembly in reply to a question raised by a respected member of the House.

The response clarified the current stance of the government on the matter.

The ministry informed the House that, as of now, there is no proposal under consideration for revising the pay scales or significantly increasing the salaries and allowances of federal government employees in the next fiscal year.
