March 12, 2026 (MLN): Telecom operator, Jazz, plans to invest $1 billion over the next three years to expand its network capacity, modernize infrastructure, and support the gradual rollout of 5G services across the country.

The investment aims to strengthen Pakistan’s digital connectivity framework and address the rapidly increasing demand for mobile data and digital services, according to a press release issued.

The company said the funding will focus on upgrading network infrastructure, improving service quality, and expanding nationwide connectivity as Pakistan’s digital ecosystem continues to grow.

Aamir Ibrahim emphasized that Pakistan’s digital future relies on strong and resilient connectivity infrastructure, noting that the investment will help support the rollout of 5G services, strengthen the company’s network, and expand reliable connectivity to millions of users across the country.

The move comes as mobile connectivity plays an increasingly central role in the country’s digital economy, supporting services such as digital payments, e-commerce, cloud-based enterprise platforms, freelancing, online education, and digital entertainment.

Industry estimates suggest that around 40% of mobile subscribers in Pakistan still lack access to 4G services, while nearly a quarter of the population remains outside mobile broadband coverage, highlighting the significant connectivity gap and the need for continued telecom infrastructure investment.

To support future expansion, Jazz recently secured 190MHz of additional spectrum in Pakistan’s latest spectrum auction across four newly introduced bands, raising its total spectrum holdings to over 284 MHz.

The additional capacity is expected to complement the planned infrastructure upgrades and enable the operator to begin a phased introduction of 5G while improving overall network performance nationwide.

Sustained investment by telecom operators will be essential to support Pakistan’s next phase of digital development as the country prepares for the introduction of 5G technologies.

Jazz maintains that the investment is aimed at building a stronger digital infrastructure foundation capable of meeting the country’s growing connectivity needs and expanding access to reliable mobile broadband services.
