April 01, 2024 (MLN): Emco Industries Limited (PSX: EMCO) has successfully completed three distinct projects and has executed the commissioning tests and trial run, company's filing on the local bourse revealed today.

  • BMR & Capacity Enhancement for Porcelain Insulator Manufacturing

EMCO planned this BMR activity to not only add capacity to allocate to the rising demand in domestic and export markets but also to aggressively pursue automation and controls of existing equipment to enhance product yields and optimize production processes.

As part of BMR, EMCO successfully completed the installation of a state-of-the-art kiln on March 27, 2024. This German-origin and energy efficient Kiln will provide capacity enhancement of the firing process of the Insulators.

Installation of other BMR-related machinery and equipment, completed till February 2024 includes Auto Jiggering / Forming Machine, Finishing Machine, Tunnel Dryer, Blank Dryer, New Filter Press Unit, Hydraulic Pumps, Units of Wad Mill Extruders, Shrink Wrap Machines and Lab Hardness Testing Machine.

It also includes a fully automatic laser particle size analyzer, autoclave testing setup, thermal expansion testing setup, porosity testing machine, electrical furnace up to 1400C, horizontal testing machine up to 50 Ton, CNC drilling and tapping Machine, and Metallograph, etc.

  • Production of HV Instrument Transformers in Pakistan

Instrument Transformers are used extensively in high-voltage substations for measuring current and voltages and offering protection and monitoring capabilities for the operation of the power grid.

Most often, this equipment is deployed at large power-generating facilities to measure the power being generated, as well as at large commercial and industrial consumer sites to accurately measure the power being utilized.

They are also used for isolating the environment between the metering and protection circuits in substations.

Primary clients for Instrument Transformers are NTDC, DISCOs, EPC contractors and large private industrial clients.

EMCO is poised to be the only domestic manufacturer of Instrument Transformers in Pakistan.

The introduction of a locally manufactured, duly type tested and certified Instrument Transformer product from independent accredited laboratories will not only promote local industry but will also save precious foreign exchange for the country.

A current/ potential transformer (CT/ PT) is a type of transformer that is used to reduce or multiply an alternating current (AC). It produces a current in its secondary which is proportional to the current in its primary.

This project was completed in January 2024.

  • High Voltage Laboratory

EMCO completed the commissioning of a state-of-the-art high voltage laboratory (HVLAB) in October 2023. Being only one of its kind, HVLAB is Pakistan's highest voltage laboratory with capability of 1800kV Impulse level & 600kV Power Frequency level.
