September 12, 2024 (MLN): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved an amendment to the existing gas allocation priorities in its meeting yesterday, as per which, gas use for industrial processes has been elevated to the highest priority, alongside domestic and commercial sectors.

Meanwhile, gas use for industries relying on captive power has been downgraded, placing it in a lower priority tier along with the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sector.

This measure would facilitate the industry using gas in it's processes, as they would be included in the top priority category.

To note, the summary of the aforementioned agenda was provided by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), as stated in the press release.

Federal minister for finance and revenue senator Muhammad Aurangzeb also chaired the meeting of the committee along with other government officials.
