DAP offtake records approx 26% increase, YoY

January 23, 2019 (MLN): DAP offtake in December 2018 was 189 thousand tonnes showing a increase of 25.6 percent over December, 2017, revealed official data on fertilizer offtake, released by National Fertilizer Development Authority (NFDC).

During the month, maximum DAP sales were made in Punjab (136 thousand tonnes, up by 22%, YoY), whereas minimum demand surfaced from the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the sales amounted to 3900 tonnes, down by 25%, YoY.

Offtake in Sindh amounted to 39 thousand, exhibiting an increase of 33% over the year, whereas demand in Baluchistan increased by 115% to 10.1 thousand tonnes.

Total domestic production of DAP during the month was recorded at only 64 thousand tonnes, whereas previous month’s leftover amounted for 528 thousand tonnes. On top of this, 90 thousand tonnes were imported as well (down by 59%, MoM).

As a result, the collective availability of DAP totaled at over 682 thousand tonnes.

Since DAP sales of 189 thousand tonnes were achieved in December, the remaining amount will be stored for use in future.
