Closing Bell: The day after!

January 7, 2020 (MLN): After yesterday’s dismal performance of the stock market, the capital markets witnessed a bounce today with a gain of 608 points (1.47%) to close at 41,904 level. The bulls were in charge throughout the session as investors set aside their worries about US-Iran confrontation.

Moreover, global stocks showed recovery with a reasonable decline in crude oil prices.

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 41,968.82

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 72 closed up 21 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 142.51 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 205 points, Fertilizer with 83 points, Cement with 68 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 66 points and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 61 points.

The most points added to the index was by HBL which contributed 93 points followed by LUCK with 60 points, DAWH with 56 points, PSO with 44 points and ENGRO with 42 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Food & Personal Care Products with 7 points, Automobile Assembler with 7 points, Tobacco with 2 points and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by INDU which stripped the index of 16 points followed by NESTLE with 9 points, IGIHL with 5 points, MLCF with 3 points and POL with 3 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 59.74 Million to 206.89 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.61.35 Billion.

Total companies traded were 365 compared to 359 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 257 closed up, 93 closed down while 15 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 2,674 to 82,351.

Value Traded decreased by 1.28 Billion to Rs.9.18 Billion
