Closing Bell: Stocks consolidate on profit-booking

January 13, 2020 (MLN): After delivering strong performances in the last two trading sessions, today, the KSE-100 index started off the week with the sluggish performance. The index fell flat on its face as it gained merely 11 points by the end of the session and closed at 43,218-mark as investors chose to book profits.

The Index traded in a range of 412.96 points or 0.96 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 43,450.40 and a low of 43,037.44.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 45 closed up 46 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 199.07 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 47 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 18 points, Textile Composite with 17 points, Technology & Communication with 12 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 11 points.

The most points added to the index was by PPL which contributed 40 points followed by HBL with 31 points, BAFL with 24 points, TRG with 12 points and BYCO with 12 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Tobacco with 32 points, Fertilizer with 31 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 23 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 16 points and Cement with 9 points.

The most points taken off the index was by UBL which stripped the index of 35 points followed by PAKT with 32 points, HUBC with 29 points, ENGRO with 24 points and OGDC with 16 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 33.95 Million to 366.14 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.9.57 Billion.

Total companies traded were 364 compared to 369 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 195 closed up, 157 closed down while 12 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 11,219 to 94,425.

Value Traded decreased by 4.68 Billion to Rs.10.80 Billion
