July17,2025(MLN): Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen bilateral ties, with a special focus on enhancing trade, investment, and regional connectivity.

The development came as Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli commenced his official visit to Islamabad on Wednesday.

On the first day of the visit, Bashirli met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, according to a press release,

Bashirli conveyed warm wishes from the Azerbaijani leadership and reiterated a commitment to extend all possible cooperation moving forward.

Welcoming the visiting official, Minister Khan described the longstanding Pakistan-Azerbaijan friendship as a strategic asset.

He recalled Azerbaijan’s steadfast support for Pakistan during its tensions with India and emphasized that Baku has always stood by Islamabad in difficult times.

Khan underscored the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly in economic affairs.

He noted that greater business-to-business linkages and the development of regional trade corridors would serve as a foundation for durable collaboration between the two countries.

“Pakistan offers a vast market of over 250 million people, and there is tremendous scope for bilateral economic engagement,” he stated.

Reflecting on his own visit to Azerbaijan, the minister shared appreciation for the cultural affinity between the two nations.

He noted how the flags of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan were being sold together as souvenirs in Baku’s gift shops, and added that it is common to see Pakistani citizens waving Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Chinese flags during national events—a sign of strong public goodwill.

In response, Deputy Minister Bashirli thanked the Pakistani government for the warm reception and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s interest in enhancing trade and investment ties.

Both sides agreed to intensify economic collaboration, recognizing the role of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce in Islamabad in promoting bilateral business activities.
