Closing Bell – Session ends at where it began in the morning

The market activity graph today looked synonymous to an ECG graph. The market went up and down throughout the day but closed close to almost neutral at the end of the session. The market increased by 23.70 points or 0.05 percent.

The market remained bearish for the most part, as 197 of 365 scrips traded ended up in red.

Banking trio; UBL, HBL, MCB ended the day in green in addition of LUCK whereas OGDC and ENGRO ended the session in red.

Yesterday’s session may have been a bear in bull’s clothing. After the end of weeklong spree of decline, the market closed on the first day of this week by adding 1565.63 points. Trading volumes rose to 255 mn shares compared with Friday’s tally of 221 mn. The value traded during the day was PKR 13.9 bn.

The net gainers during today’s session were; Wyeth Pakistan Limited WYETH +5.00%, Hinopak Motors Limited HINO +5.00%, Exide Pakistan Limited EXIDE +5.00%, Indus Motor Company Limited INDU +2.23% and Ghandhara Industries Limited GHNI +5.00%.

The net decliners during the session were; Island Textile Mills Limited ILTM -5.00%, Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited PAKT -1.43%, Wah Noble Chemicals Limited WAHN -4,97%, Al-Abbas Sugar Mills AABS -5.00% and National Refinery Limited NRL -1.33%.

All Share Volume decreased by 23.41 Million to 231.74 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.25.95 Billion.

Total companies traded were 365 compared to 391 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 149 closed up, 197 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 5,908 to 73,730.

Value Traded decreased by 0.32 Billion to Rs.13.54 Billion
