Closing Bell: KSE 100 breaks the 41,000 mark

September 7, 2018 (MLN): Sliding downhill throughout the day, the benchmark KSE – 100 index broke through the 41,000 points mark to conclude the final session of the week 411 points below the previous closing value. The 100 index concluded at 40,854 points, down by 1%.

The 100 index rose to an intraday high of 41,416 points and dropped to an intraday low of 40,793 points, during the day travelling a range of 623 points.

During the session, 93 of the companies listed within KSE – 100 were traded a total volume of around 70 million shares, at PKR 3.6 billion.

Of these 93 companies, 19 companies’ stock prices increased, 73 companies’ stock prices fell, while only 1 company’s stock price remained as before.

The sectors within KSE – 100 that took away maximum points from the index included Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-88 pts) and Cement (-77 pts)
In particular, the losses on PPL (-2.39%), LUCK (-2.36%) and PSO (-2.48%) landed the benchmark 100 index in the red zone.

Meanwhile, the KSE All Share Index too shed 310 points and dropped below the 30,000 points mark to close the session at an intraday low of 29,978 points.
Bound within the range of 385 points, the broader KSE index peaked to an intraday high of 30,364 points.

Within KSE All Share, the total volume traded during the day is recorded at 120.7 million shares, while their value logs in at PKR 4.6 billion.

Among the companies that were traded within KSE today, 71 companies closed the day in positive, 230 companies closed the day in negative while 14 companies remained unchanged, with respect to change in their stock prices.

The volumes within Karachi stock exchange were led by the Cement sector, as it traded 24.5 million shares today.
