China to aid Pakistan in onshore gas exploration: Ahsan Iqbal

June 10, 2024 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's recent visit to China will elevate bilateral relations to new heights and the CPEC partner will assist Pakistan in exploring onshore gas deposits, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal stated while talking to newsmen in Narowal yesterday.

At the invitation of the Chinese leadership, the Prime Minister undertook a five-day visit to China starting on June 4, 2024.

Both sides signed various Memorandum of understanding (MoUs) to further strengthen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, upgrade CPEC, advance trade and investment, and enhance cooperation in security and defense, energy, space, science and technology, and education.

Another important aspect of the Prime Minister's visit was meetings with the corporate executives of leading Chinese companies dealing in oil and gas, energy, ICT and emerging technologies.

Ahsan Iqbal further said that China has assured to enhance cooperation in agriculture development.

He said Pakistan will send students to China for higher education in agriculture and that the new Gwadar Airport will become operational this year.
