Chief Justice Nisar hears case of Tariq Bajwa’s appointment

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case of appointment of Tariq Bajwa as Governor State Bank of Pakistan on Tuesday.

During the proceeding, the court directed to submit the complete record regarding his appointment.

The honorable court also sought a reply from the federal government regarding the appointment of Tariq Bajwa on the post.

Last week, Islamabad High Court had declared the appointment of Tariq Bajwa as the governor State Bank of Pakistan in accordance with the law.

The high court bench had rejected all the petitions filed by 23 senators against the appointment of Tariq Bajwa.

On 20th January 2018, 23 senators had filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court against the appointment of Tariq Bajwa as the governor of State Bank of Pakistan.

The petition had been made on the grounds that there was “foul play” involved in his appointment and that proper procedure was not followed.
