Banks’ deposits increase 20.3% YoY to Rs29.35tr in May

June 07, 2024 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 20.34% YoY to Rs29.35 trillion in May 2024 compared to Rs24.39tr in May 2023.

According to data released by the SBP, Banks' deposits have jumped by 3.28% MoM, compared to Rs28.42tr by the end of April 2024.

Total advances edged up by 0.8% to Rs12.17tr compared to Rs12.07tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 1.17% from their value of Rs12.03tr in April 2024.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 41.46% showing a decrease of 804 bps on a yearly basis and 87 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs28.92tr compared to Rs20.14tr from a year ago and Rs27.28tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 43.58% and a MoM increase of 6.02%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 1,595 bps to 98.55% compared to May 2023 and increased by 254 bps when compared to a month ago.
