UK expresses interest in defence cooperation with Pakistan

August 5, 2025 (MLN): The United Kingdom has expressed interest in deepening defence and development cooperation with Pakistan, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with key regional partners.

This was conveyed during a meeting between  Ms. Jane Marriott, British High Commissioner and Federal Minister for Defence Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj in Rawalpindi, said a press release issued yesterday.

The Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s view of the UK as a close friend and a trusted development partner.

He noted that consistent engagement between the two countries had been instrumental in aligning positions on a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international matters.

Both sides agreed to enhance collaboration across various sectors, with a particular focus on defence production, trade, and strategic cooperation.

Harraj highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum in bilateral ties through regular dialogue based on mutual respect and shared interests.

High Commissioner Marriott reiterated UK’s commitment to working with Pakistan on common priorities and emphasized the significance of building long-term institutional partnerships in the defence sector.
