Trump calls himself ‘Good' at solving wars

October 13, 2025 (MLN): US President Donald Trump has commented on the recent intense border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, claiming he is skilled at resolving conflicts.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One while traveling from Washington to Israel, Trump said the Gaza ceasefire marked the eighth conflict he had helped end.

“This will be my eighth war that I’ve solved. And I hear now there’s a war going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said, ‘I’ll have to wait till I get back’. I am doing another one. Because I’m good at solving wars, I’m good at making peace and it is an honour to do it.

I save millions of lives,” Trump said. He further cited longstanding conflicts between India and Pakistan, claiming he managed to resolve wars that lasted decades “within a day.”

His remarks come as at least 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred and over 200 militants killed in overnight clashes along the Pak-Afghan border.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), fighting erupted late Saturday following an unprovoked offensive by Afghan Taliban fighters and affiliated militant groups, including the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The clashes spanned multiple sectors, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Bahram Chah in Balochistan, involving direct fire and limited cross-border incursions.

Pakistani forces carried out targeted strikes on suspected militant hideouts, reportedly destroying key Taliban infrastructure and killing more than 200 militants.

In response to the unrest, the Torkham border has been closed for commercial activities and pedestrian movement.
