October 13, 2025 (MLN): At the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will visit Egypt on October 13, 2025, to participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, the Prime Minister's Office decleared on October 12, 2025.
The visit comes at the invitation of Egyptian President
Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister will
attend the signing ceremony of a peace agreement aimed at ending the grave
humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Prime Minister Sharif will be accompanied by the Deputy
Prime Minister/Foreign Minister and other senior ministers during the official
visit.
The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit stems from diplomatic efforts
that began during the UN General Assembly's 80th Session in New York last
month.
On September 23, 2025, Prime Minister Sharif joined leaders
from seven Arab-Islamic countries Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE,
Indonesia, and Türkiye in a summit-level meeting with President Trump to
explore avenues for achieving peace in Gaza.
These Arab Islamic countries issued a joint statement
welcoming President Trump's peace efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to
work with the United States to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable
ceasefire and address critical humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
Pakistan's participation in the summit shows the country's
historic and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the right to
self-determination.
The Prime Minister's Office stated that Pakistan hopes the
summit will pave the way for full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, protection of
Palestinian civilians, an end to displacement, and release of prisoners.
Pakistan also emphasized the need for addressing the
humanitarian crisis and reconstruction of Gaza as key outcomes of the peace
summit.
Pakistan also expressed hope that these efforts will
contribute to a credible political process aimed at achieving an independent,
viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem)
as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders, in line with relevant UN resolutions
and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The summit represents a significant diplomatic effort to
achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
