SBP Trade Data Unaffected by PBS Revisions

October 6, 2025 (MLN): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has clarified that recent revisions in trade data by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) will not result in any major changes to the SBP’s published current account (C/A) balance figures.

In a statement issued Monday, the SBP said that its trade data is based mainly on trade payments data received from banks. As a result, there will be no significant revision in the current account balance data already released.

“Minor revisions may continue as per practice,” the statement added.

The clarification comes in response to news reports suggesting that updates in PBS trade data may lead to similar revisions in SBP data. SBP said it issued this clarification in the broader public interest.
