Pakistan's cotton output surges 40% YoY

September 19, 2025 (MLN): Cotton arrivals in Pakistan have jumped significantly, with a 40% YoY increase as of mid-September 2025.

The data, sourced from the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), shows strong performance across the major cotton-producing provinces.

Sindh saw a remarkable increase, with arrivals reaching 1.31m bales, a substantial rise from the 0.9m bales recorded during the same period in 2024.

Punjab, another key contributor, also saw a notable increase. Arrivals in the province rose to 0.69m bales compared to 0.54m bales in mid-September 2024.

This positive trend, however, is tempered by the fact that the overall output remains 49% lower than the levels seen in the fiscal year 2024.

The country's total textile exports dropped by 0.34% YoY to $1.4bn in August 2025, a recent sign of the challenges facing the sector, further supporting the concern that the overall output has a long way to go to recover from the downturn.
