Pakistan hails China’s global governance initiative as “much-needed”

December 10, 2025 (MLN): China have launched a Group of Friends of Global Governance to promote a more just and equitable global management system.

Pakistan called the initiative “much-needed” amid growing international challenges, including conflicts, debt distress, and climate change impacts, APP reported.

The inaugural meeting of the group was held on Tuesday at UN Headquarters in New York and was chaired by Ambassador Fu Cong, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, which was attended by representatives from nearly 40 states.

Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad praised the launch and highlighted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative as a visionary blueprint for addressing interconnected global crises.

The initiative is guided by five core principles: sovereign equality, international rule of law, multilateralism, a people-centered approach, and delivering real results.

Ambassador Ahmad noted that it aligns closely with Pakistan’s strategic priorities, including fostering a fairer world order, supporting peaceful resolution of disputes, and pursuing win-win outcomes for all nations.

He also commended China’s commitment to international cooperation and efforts to reinvigorate multilateral diplomacy.
