Pakistan, China reaffirm all-weather partnership

February 23, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and China reaffirmed their all-weather strategic partnership and pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the coming year, with a particular focus on economic growth, energy, and mining projects.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik highlighted China’s consistent support during Pakistan’s economic challenges and said the next milestone in joint mining ventures would be the Siadak Project, following the success of the Saindak Project.

He emphasized that Chinese support will play a key role in boosting Pakistan’s economic progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a press release issued.

The Chinese Spring Festival was celebrated in Islamabad with a special event hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, themed “Chinese New Year, China–Pakistan Go Together.”

The festival brought together Pakistani and Chinese communities, with Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik sharing greetings and participating in festivities.

Ambassador Jiang reaffirmed China’s unshakeable confidence in Pakistan and expressed optimism for continued collaboration across multiple sectors for the shared prosperity of both nations.

The event concluded on a note of unity and renewed commitment, symbolizing the enduring strength of the China–Pakistan friendship as both countries stepped into the Year of the Horse together.
