Pakistan, U.S. enter new phase of cooperation

September 26, 2025 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed confidence that the Pakistan-U.S. partnership will grow stronger under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump while further calling for enhanced cooperation in trade, security, and regional stability.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with President Trump at the White House in Washington D.C. Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir was also present on the occasion, according to a press release issued yesterday.

Highlighting Pakistan’s economic potential, Shehbaz Sharif invited U.S. companies to invest in agriculture, information technology, mining, minerals, and the energy sector.

He also thanked President Trump for concluding a favorable tariff arrangement with Pakistan earlier this year.

Both leaders discussed regional security, including counter-terrorism cooperation.

The Prime Minister appreciated President Trump’s public endorsement of Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism and underscored the importance of strengthening intelligence and security collaboration.

Shehbaz Sharif lauded President Trump as a “man of peace,” praising his decisive leadership in facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, which he said helped avert a major crisis in South Asia.

Turning to the Middle East, the Prime Minister commended President Trump’s efforts to end the war in Gaza, particularly his initiative to bring together key Muslim world leaders in New York for dialogue on restoring peace in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Prime Minister also extended a warm invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan at a time of his convenience.
