June 17, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation through the exchange of knowledge and expertise across various areas of development.

The agreement was signed in Islamabad by Pakistan’s Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, and the UAE’s Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, who is currently visiting Pakistan.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif witnessed the signing ceremony.

Under the MoU, both countries will collaborate in key areas including good governance, development planning, public sector reforms, human resource development, urban planning, and science and technology, as per the press release issued.

Earlier, the visiting UAE delegation, led by Abdullah Nasser Lootah, held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Prime Minister recalled his recent meeting with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi and acknowledged the UAE’s significant role in easing tensions between Pakistan and India.

Outlining the government’s initiatives, the Prime Minister said Pakistan is progressing towards good governance through digitization, a paperless economy, a faceless customs system, and data-driven decision-making.

He expressed Pakistan’s interest in learning from the UAE’s modern management practices to enhance the effectiveness of its reforms.

Abdullah Nasser Lootah praised the contributions of the Pakistani community to the UAE’s development and affirmed the UAE’s commitment to sharing its knowledge and experiences with Pakistan.
