Pakistan, Romania agree to deepen military ties

September 05, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Romania have reaffirmed their resolve to deepen defence cooperation as the two countries mark 60 years of diplomatic relations.

During a meeting in Islamabad yesterday, Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and H.E. Mr. Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania, discussed ways to enhance collaboration in the defence sector.

The Defence Minister emphasized Romania’s importance as a valued member of the European Union and highlighted opportunities for building stronger defence relations.

He lauded Romania’s active participation in multinational military exercises organized by Pakistan, terming it a reflection of both nations’ shared commitment to peace and stability.

Both sides agreed on fostering closer cooperation through regular exchanges of experts, strengthened interaction between defence personnel and expanded institutional linkages with Romanian defence forces.

The Romanian Ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s pivotal role as a strong regional player contributing to regional and global stability.

He reiterated Romania’s readiness to broaden bilateral cooperation, particularly in defence.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to maintain regular dialogue, official visits and exchanges, further advancing the growing partnership between Pakistan and Romania.
