July 28, 2025(MLN): Pakistan emphasized its focus on strengthening trade and economic cooperation with the Netherlands as Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met outgoing Dutch Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Henny de Vries, acknowledging her contributions to enhancing bilateral relations and encouraging further Dutch investment in Pakistan’s economy.

During the meeting, Finance Minister Aurangzeb commended Ambassador de Vries for her dedicated efforts in strengthening the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the Netherlands.

The Minister also appreciated the positive role played by Dutch companies in Pakistan, noting their contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, said a press release issued.

In a wide-ranging discussion, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. Senator Aurangzeb briefed the Ambassador on recent economic developments, including Pakistan’s improved sovereign credit ratings, a more secure environment, and rising investor confidence.

He outlined the government’s economic roadmap focused on sustainable, inclusive, and export-led growth.

The Minister also elaborated on key features of the newly announced federal budget, highlighting fiscal discipline through a controlled budgetary expansion of just 1.9 percent down significantly from the previous years’ average of 9 to 10 percent.

He emphasized a balanced approach to increasing social protection and defence expenditure while cutting subsidies and debt servicing costs.

Ambassador de Vries expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s macroeconomic progress and welcomed the country’s current trajectory.

She voiced optimism about Pakistan’s future economic prospects and expressed hope that the nation would continue its path toward long-term growth and prosperity.

The meeting concluded with Senator Aurangzeb extending his best wishes to Ambassador de Vries in her future endeavours.
