Banks’ deposits increase by 16% YoY in September

October 16, 2026 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 15.95% YoY to Rs40.83 trillion in September 2026 compared to Rs35.21tr in September 2025.

According to data released by the SBP, Banks' deposits have edged higher by 4.04% MoM, compared to Rs39.24tr in August 2026.

Total advances increased by 14.31% to Rs15.38tr compared to Rs13.46tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 5.97% from their value of Rs14.52tr in August 2026.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 37.68% showing a decrease of 54 bps on a yearly basis, while showing an increase of 69 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs40.13tr compared to Rs35.82tr from a year ago and Rs41.18tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 12.06% and a MoM decrease of -2.55%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved down by 342 bps to 98.3% compared to September 2025 and decreased by 664 bps when compared to a month ago.
