Pakistan, Azerbaijan vow to deepen economic ties

July 04, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed to bolster cooperation in trade and investment, as Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in Khankendi this week.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the progress made on investment prospects and reiterated their commitment to strengthening economic ties, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday.

Shehbaz thanked President Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support during Pakistan’s recent tensions with India, while underscoring Islamabad’s consistent backing of Baku during its critical junctures.

The Prime Minister also reaffirmed that recent high-level exchanges, including his visit to Lachin in May, had cemented bilateral relations further.

He extended an invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
