PSX Opening Bell: Early Cheer Lifts PSX

July 27, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened the week on a strong note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index surging over 5,000 points in early trading as easing geopolitical tensions and a sharp decline in global oil prices improved investor sentiment.

The rally came after Iran reportedly signaled that it would suspend military operations if the United States maintains its pause in strikes, easing fears of further escalation and potential disruptions to global energy supplies following nearly two weeks of heightened conflict.

Oil fell 4% to $92 per barrel, further supporting sentiment by reducing concerns over Pakistan's oil import bill and external account pressures.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index was trading at 176,025.68 as of early Monday trading, showing an increase of 5,004.48 points or 2.93%.

The index remained positive throughout the session, touching an intraday high of 176,214.29 (+5,193.09 points) and a low of 175,468.97 (+4,447.77 points).

The total volume traded in the KSE-100 Index stood at 16.73 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies, 90 were trading higher, 2 lower, 1 unchanged, while 7 remained untraded.

Top gainers during the session were TGL (+10.00%), MEHT (+6.76%), DGKC (+6.26%), AIRLINK (+6.11%), and MLCF (+6.00%).

In terms of index-point contributions, UBL (+527.40pts), FFC (+397.87pts), LUCK (+305.22pts), ENGROH (+246.63pts), and HUBC (+237.60pts) provided the biggest support to the benchmark.

Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+1,660.72pts), Cement (+697.41pts), Fertilizer (+543.40pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+515.82pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (+274.25pts).
