PSX Opening Bell: Off to a Flying Start

June 24, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index started Tuesday's trading session at 120,658.04, showing an increase of 4,490.57 points or 3.87%.
The index started positive today showing a high of 120,770.37 (+4,602.90) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 44.45 million shares.
This surge followed U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran via a social media post, declaring an end to what he termed "THE 12 DAY WAR."
In his statement, Trump revealed that both countries have fully agreed to a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE, which will begin in approximately six hours, after both sides conclude their current, final missions.
The ceasefire will proceed in two 12-hour phases: Iran will initiate the first 12-hour ceasefire, followed by Israel, culminating in a 24-hour period that will mark the official end of the conflict.
"During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL," Trump emphasized, expressing confidence that the plan would proceed as intended.
The former president extended congratulations to both nations, commending their “Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence” for ending a conflict that, according to him, could have lasted for years and devastated the entire Middle East.
He concluded his message with a blessing: "God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!"
Top gainers were PGLC (+10.00%), DGKC (+9.31%), YOUW (+9.24%), PIOC (+8.81%), and MLCF (+8.73%).
On the other hand, top losers were FHAM (-3.55%), KTML (-3.24%), MEHT (-3.07%), THALL (-1.87%), and UPFL (-1.06%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were ENGROH (+380.98pts), LUCK (+306.05pts), MARI (+231.68pts), OGDC (+228.11pts), and PPL (+216.66pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were FHAM (-2.67pts), MEHT (+0.00pts), IBFL (+0.00pts), JDWS (+0.00pts), and KTML (+0.00pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Cement (+759.08pts), Commercial Banks (+717.30pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+699.79pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+413.14pts), and Fertilizer (+333.92pts).
While the index was let down by Modarabas (-2.67pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (+0.00pts), Sugar & Allied Industries (+0.00pts), Synthetic & Rayon (+0.00pts), and Woollen (+0.46pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index started at 75,227.74 with a net gain of 2,707.30 points or 3.73%.
Total market volume was 110.28 million shares compared to 595.01m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs5.13 billion showing a decrease of Rs18.36bn.
