PSX Closing Bell: Tumble Tuesday

July 29, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index ended Tuesday’s session at 137,964.81, down by 1,415.24 points or 1.02%.
During the day, the index moved within a wide range of 2,694.64 points, hitting an intraday high of 140,331.01 (+950.96) and a low of 137,636.37 (-1,743.68).Trading volume for the index totaled 212.67 million shares.
The outlook is still considered intact, with the 137K level continuing to be seen as strong support for the KSE-100, Ali Najib, Deputy Head of Trading at Arif Habib Limited told Mettis Global.
If breached, the index may be pushed toward 135K, where attractive valuations and anticipated monetary easing are expected to trigger renewed buying interest, he added.
Of the 100 index companies 23 closed up, 76 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.
Top losers during the day were JVDC (-6.88%), PSEL (-6.20%), HGFA (-6.02%), EFERT (-5.12%), and ENGROH (-3.17%).
On the other hand, top gainers were GHGL (+9.44%), BWCL (+4.43%), ILP (+4.36%), TRG (+3.30%), and GADT (+2.88%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were ENGROH (-222.90pts), EFERT (-222.41pts), UBL (-192.25pts), HBL (-135.56pts), and HUBC (-111.72pts).
Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were FFC (+99.35pts), GHGL (+47.26pts), MEBL (+43.81pts), BWCL (+41.37pts), and ILP (+29.62pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-297.63pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-230.94pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-163.04pts), Cement (-150.20pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-132.98pts).
While the index was supported by Glass & Ceramics (+43.58pts), Textile Composite (+26.30pts), Chemical (+5.39pts), Textile Spinning (+3.94pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+0.74pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 85,571.43 with a net loss of 768.82 points or 0.89%.
Total market volume was 606.33 million shares compared to 589.31m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs32.69 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.88bn.
There were 357,261 trades reported in 484 companies with 108 closing up, 350 closing down, and 26 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 12,338 points or 9.82% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 22,838 points or 19.84% so far this calendar year.
