PSX Closing Bell: Stronger Than Yesterday

August 01, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 141,034.98, showing an increase of 1,644.56 points or 1.18%.

The index traded in a range of 2,203.23 points showing an intraday high of 141,160.93 (+1,770.51) and a low of 138,957.70 (-432.72) points.

Total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 304.55 million shares.

PSX rebounded strongly around the 138k level, showing a notable recovery from intraday lows. The outlook remains positive, with support now standing at 140k for the KSE-100 index, Ali Najib, Deputy Head of Trading at Arif Habib Limited told Mettis Global.

However, if this level is breached, the index could drift toward 138,000, where compelling valuations and expectations of monetary easing may revive investor interest and spark fresh buying momentum,he added.

 

Of the 100 index companies 60 closed up, 39 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were OGDC (+9.73%), PPL (+7.05%), PSO (+6.72%), CNERGY (+5.65%), and HUBC (+4.71%).

On the other hand, top losers were ILP (-6.77%), SRVI (-5.64%), GADT (-5.43%), EPCL (-5.03%), and PABC (-3.79%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were OGDC (+488.81pts), PPL (+267.85pts), HUBC (+209.79pts), PSO (+203.52pts), and HBL (+185.01pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were SYS (-123.11pts), ENGROH (-73.12pts), SRVI (-54.47pts), ILP (-49.68pts), and LCI (-23.60pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+874.48pts), Commercial Banks (+380.51pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+257.42pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+216.24pts), and Cement (+145.48pts).

While the index was let down by Technology & Communication (-130.74pts), Textile Composite (-80.01pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-69.74pts), Leather & Tanneries (-54.47pts), and Miscellaneous (-39.90pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 87,318.23 with a net gain of 1,057.27 points or 1.23%.

Total market volume was 609.71 million shares compared to 577.35m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs50.55 billion showing an increase of Rs14.20bn.

There were 352,602 trades reported in 482 companies with 199 closing up, 245 closing down, and 38 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 15,408 points or 12.26% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 25,908 points or 22.50% so far this calendar year.
