PSX Closing Bell: On a High Note

September 05, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 154,277.19, showing an increase of 1,611.47 points or 1.06%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 154,511.31 (+1,845.59) and a low of 153,129.78 (+464.06) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 471.37 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 58 closed up, 41 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were DGKC (+10.00%), HGFA (+9.98%), NBP (+9.88%), AICL (+8.77%), and BOP (+7.24%).

On the other hand, top losers were PKGP (-2.36%), AIRLINK (-1.99%), POML (-1.90%), TGL (-1.43%), and PIBTL (-1.41%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were NBP (+265.66pts), HUBC (+254.86pts), LUCK (+196.51pts), DGKC (+159.29pts), and PPL (+131.91pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-103.86pts), UBL (-53.45pts), SYS (-18.32pts), PKGP (-12.89pts), and AIRLINK (-12.75pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Cement (+473.77pts), Commercial Banks (+446.32pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+262.31pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+236.26pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+79.14pts).

While the index was let down by Fertilizer (-63.63pts), Technology & Communication (-22.81pts), Refinery (-11.24pts), Glass & Ceramics (-9.36pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (-7.61pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 94,348.18 with a net gain of 835.46 points or 0.89%.

Total market volume was 1,078.41 million shares compared to 954.33m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs59.95 billion showing an increase of Rs13.90bn.

There were 438,257 trades reported in 479 companies with 239 closing up, 210 closing down, and 30 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 28,650 points or 22.81% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 39,150 points or 34.01% so far this calendar year.
