July 03, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 130,686.65, showing an increase of 342.62 points or 0.26%.

The index traded in a range of 1,548.90 points showing an intraday high of 131,325.10 (+981.07) and a low of 129,776.20 (-567.83) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 280.01 million shares.

The session opened on a positive note following the State Bank of Pakistan’s announcement that FX reserves stood at USD 14.5 billion at the close of FY25, a level that committed with IMF, Ali Najib, Deputy Head of Trading at Arif Habib Limited told Mettis Global.

Today’s tug of war between bulls and bears slightly capped overall market momentum. However, the key psychological level of 130,000 held firm by the session’s close, he added.

Going forward, the market may enter a consolidation phase, with 127,000 expected to serve as a critical support level, he noted.

 

Of the 100 index companies 53 closed up, 46 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were AICL (+10.01%), GADT (+10.00%), INIL (+9.11%), AKBL (+8.31%), and ISL (+5.53%).

On the other hand, top losers were BNWM (-6.26%), IBFL (-5.25%), BAHL (-4.14%), EFUG (-3.16%), and YOUW (-3.16%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were OGDC (+133.11pts), UBL (+118.71pts), HUBC (+101.50pts), PPL (+67.56pts), and AKBL (+65.28pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL (-185.24pts), MCB (-113.46pts), MEBL (-85.52pts), HBL (-55.72pts), and MTL (-53.08pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+211.27pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+121.98pts), Engineering (+60.55pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+58.86pts), and Insurance (+42.39pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-311.45pts), Refinery (-14.54pts), Glass & Ceramics (-11.07pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (-10.87pts), and Synthetic & Rayon (-9.62pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 81,305.25 with a net gain of 281.27 points or 0.35%.

Total market volume was 899.85 million shares compared to 1,026.12m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs43.25 billion showing a decrease of Rs6.04bn.

There were 428,181 trades reported in 467 companies with 215 closing up, 236 closing down, and 16 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 5,059 points or 4.03% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 15,560 points or 13.52% so far this calendar year.
