July 30, 2025 (MLN): In a significant step toward strengthening youth engagement in democratic governance, the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) during a meeting chaired by Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman PMYP, at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The agreement, signed in the presence of team members from both organizations, establishes a collaborative framework to promote informed and active citizenship among youth across Pakistan, said a press release issued today.

The partnership aims to increase youth participation in democratic processes and develop leadership capacity among young citizens.

Under this collaboration, PMYP and PILDAT will jointly undertake several initiatives, including the design and implementation of civic engagement programs such as Youth Parliament Pakistan and Democracy Talks.

The partnership will also support training workshops and leadership development programs for youth throughout the country, alongside the production of research reports, policy briefs, and educational materials related to civic education and democratic norms.

In addition, both organizations will organize seminars, campaigns, and conferences to promote democratic values and youth participation.

A major focus will be placed on digital and social media campaigns to engage a broader audience, as well as facilitating data analysis for Pakistan’s first-ever National Adolescent & Youth Policy.

Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan emphasized that this collaboration is part of PMYP’s broader mission to empower young Pakistanis through education, engagement, employment, and environment (the 4Es), while aligning national youth policies with democratic values and global standards.

The signing of this LOI marks a new chapter in youth development in Pakistan, reinforcing the government’s commitment to building an informed, responsible, and engaged generation of future leaders.
