PM unveils five-year MSME support plan

June 27, 2025 (MLN): To promote innovative and sustainable projects by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), a Rs30 billion Development Fund has been established for implementation over the next five years.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared this on the occasion of International Day of Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, as per the press release issued.

In his message, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to creating a dynamic and business-friendly environment that enables MSMEs to thrive and contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s sustainable development.

He emphasized the need for targeted support for entrepreneurs, including easier access to finance, the adoption of innovative technologies, and the development of stronger market linkages.

Highlighting ongoing institutional efforts, he stated that the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) is being restructured to enhance its effectiveness in supporting the sector.

The Prime Minister underlined the importance of integrating enterprising individuals into the broader manufacturing and productivity cycle, ensuring that economic progress reaches all segments of society.
