Govt keeps petrol, diesel unchanged

June 27, 2026 (MLN): The government kept petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices unchanged, maintaining petrol at Rs299.50 per litre and HSD at Rs311.47 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.

The price buildup data from Euro Oil (Pvt) Limited shows the stability was achieved despite movement in underlying components.

For HSD, the refinery price declined by Rs6.57 per litre from Rs217.09 to Rs210.52 while the petroleum levy (PL) rose by an equal Rs6.57, from Rs72.97 to Rs79.54, effectively neutralising the impact on the consumer end-price.

A similar dynamic played out in PMG, where the refinery price edged down Rs0.39 to Rs210.98, offset by a matching Rs0.39 increase in the petroleum levy to Rs66.64.

Other components including the Climate Support Levy at Rs2.50, IFEM at Rs2.40 for HSD and Rs2.87 for PMG, and dealer and distributor margins remained unchanged across both.

The Max Depot Price for both fuels consequently held flat, with HSD at Rs311.47 and PMG at Rs299.50.

The offsetting levy adjustments indicate the government used the petroleum levy as a balancing tool to absorb the refinery price movement, shielding consumers from any change at the pump while sustaining levy collections.
