PKR strengthens modestly as USD settles at 281.05

October 22, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 0.92 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.05 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.06.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.10 and a low (ask) of 282.10

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.30 for buying and 282.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 91.00 paisa or 0.28% against the Euro, closing at 325.91 compared to the previous value of 326.82.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.95 rupees or 0.52% to 374.46 compared to 376.41 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 1.75 rupees or 0.49% against Swiss franc to close at 352.86.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.88 paisa or 0.47% to close the session at 1.8509 versus 1.8597 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 4.06 paisa or 0.10% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.45 from 39.49.

The local currency increased by 0.25 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 74.94. While it appreciated by 0.25 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.52.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has gained against the US Dollar by 2.71 rupees or 0.96%. While it has fell 2.50 rupees or 0.89% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.93% and 11.18%.
