PKR remains stable against USD

August 20, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained stable with a slight increase by 1.23 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.95 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.96.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283.9 and a low (ask) of 284.4.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.00 for buying and 284.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 91.66 paisa or 0.28% against the Euro, closing at 328.33 compared to the previous value of 329.25.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 20.00 paisa or 0.05% to 380.82 compared to 381.02 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 96.75 paisa or 0.28% against Swiss franc to close at 348.86.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.14 paisa or 0.07% to close the session at 1.9099 versus 1.9085 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee depreciated 2.29 paisa or 0.06% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.28 from 39.26.

The local currency strengthened by 0.52 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 75.13. While it strengthened by 0.12 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.77.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 1.81 rupees or 0.64%. While it has decreased 3.40 rupees or 1.21% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 10.81% and 11.06%.
