PKR decreases by 10 paisa against USD

July 09, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 10.34 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.47 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.36.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 285 and a low (ask) of 287.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 285.00 for buying and 286.85 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 1.19 rupees or 0.36% against the Euro, closing at 333.11 compared to the previous value of 334.30.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 1.10 rupees or 0.28% to 386.62 compared to 387.72 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 11.67 paisa or 0.03% against Swiss franc to close at 356.92.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.79 paisa or 0.41% to close the session at 1.9379 versus 1.9458 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee strengthened 4.55 paisa or 0.11% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.60 from 39.65.

The local currency depreciated by 2.35 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.85. While it deteriorated by 2.92 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.45.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 70.28 paisa or 0.25%. While it has depreciated 5.92 rupees or 2.08% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 10.77% and 11.02%.
