Nishat Power swings to Rs747m loss in FY25

September 29, 2025 (MLN): Nishat Power Limited (PSX: NPL) reported a loss of Rs746.8 million for the year ended June 30, 2025, compared to a profit of Rs5.39 billion in the previous year, driven by a steep fall in revenues and lower margins.
Revenues plunged 68.6% year-on-year to Rs7.06bn, from Rs22.5bn in FY24, due to reduced dispatches and CPPA-G adjustments. Cost of sales dropped 74.7% to Rs4.39bn. As a result, gross profit declined 48.3% to Rs2.66bn, with the gross profit margin improving to 37.7% from 22.8% last year.
Administrative and other expenses increased 24.3% to Rs611m, while other income rose 36.4% to Rs1.47bn. Operating profit fell 38.6% to Rs3.52bn.
Finance costs grew 29% to Rs43.4m. Adjustments related to CPPA-G decreased 39% to Rs3.47bn, weighing further on results.
The company recorded a loss before taxation of Rs381.3m against a profit of Rs5.61bn in FY24. After taxation, the loss stood at Rs746.8m.
Earnings per share (EPS) dropped to negative Rs2.11, versus positive Rs15.22 last year.
