KSE-100 ends session with 148-point loss

October 12, 2022 (MLN): KSE-100 benchmark index lost 148.34 points (0.35%) on Wednesday to close at 42,007.14 after making a intraday high of 42,187.75.

KSE-100 experienced a bearish trend today as profit-taking was witnessed during the market after investor confidence was shaken after the rupee ended the upward momentum against the greenback after the 13th consecutive session.

By the session’s end, the total volumes of the KSE-100 index stood at 113 million shares, down by 25.14% from 151mn shares traded in Tuesday’s session. 

In terms of sectors, most of the negative contributors were technology, chemical, and cement which negatively contributed 159.65 points. On the flip side, the oil & gas exploration companies closed the session positive, gaining 32.60 points by the day’s end.

Shares of 94 companies were traded on Wednesday, of which 58 recorded a fall, 33 registered an increase, whereas three remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, the volume leaders on the benchmark index were KEL (34.45mn), CYNERGY (9.37mn), AVN (18.62mn), TRG (7.32mn), and LOTCHEM (5.61mn).

The stocks that emerged as net losers during the day included: COLG (2.28%), PAKT (4.55%), GADT (4.98%), TRG (7.50%), and ARPL (1.43%). On the other hand, the scrips which gained the most during the session included NESTLE (3.46%), MARI (1.13%), SRVI (2.21%), POL (1.94%), and ATLH (1.44%).
