Govt waives August electricity bills for flood-hit domestic consumers

September 15, 2025 (MLN): Electricity bills for domestic power consumers in flood-affected areas have been waived for the month of August, with the Federal Government bearing the cost from its own resources.

In a video statement on Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that those who have already paid their bills for last month will receive adjustments in their upcoming bills, adding that clear instructions have been issued in this regard.

He further stated that losses incurred by agricultural, commercial and industrial power consumers are being assessed, and collection of their electricity bills for last month has been deferred immediately.

Additional relief measures will be considered if the assessment reveals greater losses.

Power distribution companies have been directed to act promptly on these instructions.

The Prime Minister also reiterated his commitment to the full rehabilitation of flood-affected areas, assuring that he will not rest until every individual impacted is rehabilitated.
