October 30, 2025 (MLN): The Federal Government has appointed Mr. Muhammad Amin Khan Lodhi as Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for a period of five years, effective immediately.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Division (Internal Finance Wing), the appointment has been made in pursuance of Section 11A(2) of the State Bank of Pakistan Act, 1956 (Amended 2022).
Mr. Lodhi brings with him over 26 years of experience at the central bank. He has been serving as Executive Director at SBP since February 2024, overseeing key areas such as Economic Research, Financial Markets, and Policy Development.
Earlier, he held the position of Director, Domestic Markets and Monetary Management Department, where he contributed to the formulation of monetary policy, public policy strategy, and financial market operations.
He holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Williams College (2003–2004), with a focus on economic research and public policy.
Mr. Lodhi is widely recognized for his analytical and strategic planning skills and has played a pivotal role in shaping Pakistan’s monetary and financial frameworks.
The notification, signed by Ahmed Taimoor Nasir, Joint Secretary to the Government of Pakistan, has also been forwarded to relevant ministries and institutions, including the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, Establishment Division, SECP, and the State Bank of Pakistan.
This appointment fills one of the key leadership roles at the central bank, which plays a crucial part in maintaining monetary stability and fostering economic growth in the country.
