Cement despatches rise over 12% in August 2025

September 2, 2025 (MLN): Cement despatches stood at 3.846 million tons in August 2025, showing a growth of 12.45% compared to 3.421m tons recorded in the same month last year.

Local despatches rose to 3.097m tons from 2.807m tons in August 2024, showing an increase of 10.33%, while exports grew by 22.13% to 749,723 tons against 613,857 tons, according to All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA)

In comparison, July 2025 figures were stronger as the industry posted 18.61% domestic growth and an 84% jump in exports over July 2024.

In regional terms, North-based cement mills dispatched 2.795m tons in August 2025, up 8.10% from 2.585m tons a year earlier.

South-based mills dispatched 1.05m tons, marking a 25.93% rise from 0.835m tons in August 2024.

Domestic despatches from North-based mills stood at 2.586m tons, increasing by 8.64% against 2.380m tons last year.

South-based mills delivered 510,758 tons locally, showing 19.81% growth over 426,289 tons in August 2024.

Exports from North-based mills edged up by 1.84% to 208,669 tons compared to 204,901 tons last year, while South-based mills registered a sharper 32.30% increase to 541,054 tons from 408,956 tons.

For the first two months of the fiscal year, total cement despatches (domestic and exports) were 7.847m tons, up 20.88% from 6.492m tons in the same period of last year.

Domestic despatches reached 6.090m tons, rising 14.25% from 5.331m tons, whereas exports surged 51.29% to 1.757m tons compared to 1.161m tons last year.

North-based mills dispatched 5.004m tons domestically during July–August 2025, showing 10.36% growth from 4.535m tons a year earlier.

Exports from the North grew 44.99% to 440,654 tons against 303,921 tons, taking total despatches up 12.53% to 5.445m tons compared to 4.839m tons last year.

South-based mills dispatched 1.086m tons domestically during July–August 2025, marking 36.46% growth over 0.796m tons a year earlier.

Exports surged 53.53% to 1.316m tons from 0.857m tons, pushing total despatches up 45.31% to 2.402m tons from 1.653m tons last year.

A spokesman mentioned that the country is facing difficulties due to excessive rains and floods and urged the government to reduce taxes on cement to lower the cost of rehabilitation in affected areas.
