Attock Refinery doubles profit to Rs16bn in 9MFY26

April 30, 2026 (MLN): Attock Refinery Limited (PSX: ATRL) reported a robust 90.40% year-on-year expansion in profit for the period for the nine months ended March 31, 2026, recording Rs16.36bn compared to Rs8.60bn in the corresponding period last year.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) climbed 90.39% to Rs153.49, up from Rs80.62 in 9MFY25, reflecting exceptional value accretion for shareholders during the period.

ATRL's net sales declined 4.47% to Rs224.79bn from Rs235.32bn. However, cost of sales contracted at a considerably faster pace of 12.06% to Rs202.21bn, well below the revenue decline rate.

This favourable cost dynamic allowed gross profit to more than quadruple to Rs22.58bn from Rs5.37bn, providing a powerful earnings foundation for the period.

Administration expenses rose a contained 6.75% to Rs1.34bn while distribution costs remained broadly flat at Rs77.82m. Other charges doubled to Rs1.93bn from Rs963.68m, adding meaningful pressure.

Other income, however, declined 32.42% to Rs6.70bn from Rs9.92bn. The combined effect still resulted in operating profit nearly doubling to Rs25.91bn from Rs12.98bn.

Finance costs declined 34.76% to Rs234.98m from Rs360.19m, providing a further tailwind. Profit before taxation for the refinery segment more than doubled to Rs25.53bn from Rs12.62bn.

Taxation rose to Rs9.82bn from Rs4.92bn, broadly tracking the expansion in taxable income. Profit after taxation for the refinery segment consequently more than doubled to Rs15.71bn from Rs7.70bn.

Non-refinery operations contributed Rs655.64m, though 26.93% below the Rs897.22m recorded in the prior year.

After accounting for all segments and taxation, Attock Refinery Limited closed the nine-month period with a profit for the period of Rs16.36bn, representing a 90.40% expansion over the Rs8.60bn reported in the corresponding period of last year.
