Mamdani to meet Trump in the White House

November 20, 2025 (MLN):  New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is scheduled to visit the White House on Friday for his first official meeting with President Donald Trump.

President Trump, shared the upcoming meeting in a post on his Truth Social, media platform highlighting that the meeting was requested by Mamdani which is to be held on November 21st.

Mamdani, a democratic socialist whose unexpected victory over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in both the Democratic primary and the general election drew national attention earlier this year, CNBC reported.

Dora Pekec, spokesperson for Mamdani, said the meeting will center on public safety, economic stability, and the affordability challenges confronting more than a million New Yorkers.

In an interview on MS Now’s All In with Chris Hayes, reported by CNBC, Mamdani noted that he plans to have a direct conversation with President Trump about the growing financial strain on city residents from child care and rising rents to utility bills and the cost of public transit.

U.S. Democrats made a clean sweep in several of the nation’s most closely watched elections, securing major victories in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, California, and Pennsylvania.

Mamdani’s win marked one of the biggest political upsets in recent New York City history.
