July 21, 2025 (MLN):  Under the Prime Minister’s ongoing initiative to modernize Pakistan’s agriculture sector, 100 agriculture graduates left for China on Sunday to begin six months of advanced training in crop breeding and genomics at the Southwest University of Science and Technology.

This is part of Batch-II of the program aiming to train 1,000 professionals, implemented by the Ministry of National Food Security & Research (MNFSR) in partnership with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing.

Graduates were encouraged to uphold discipline and play an active role in enhancing Sino-Pak cooperation, particularly in the fields of science and technology.

MOFA, and Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing. The initiative focuses on adopting China’s climate-smart agricultural practices and strengthening bilateral cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC

Speakers at the ceremony emphasized the importance of learning from China’s seven decades of agricultural innovation.

Graduates were urged to adopt discipline and act as ambassadors of Pakistan while fostering deeper Sino-Pak collaboration in scientific and technical fields.

The initiative is a flagship component of the government's broader agenda to modernize agriculture, enhance food security, and promote rural development.

Earlier, 292 professionals completed a three-month training program at Shaanxi-based institutions from April 16 to July 17, 2025, and are set to return to Pakistan on July 21. Their participation marks a step forward in expanding agricultural and technological collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Upon arrival in China, they were warmly received by university officials. The gesture reflected the mutual commitment of both nations to enhancing agricultural expertise and deepening bilateral relations through educational and technical exchanges.
