Minister Kayani briefs trade bodies on budget relief, export facilitation plan

August 29, 2026 (MLN): The government reaffirmed its commitment
to facilitating trade, streamlining the tax framework, and further
strengthening the export environment.
This was brought into focus as Minister of State for
Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani held a high-level consultative meeting
in Karachi on Friday with key leaders and representatives of the All Pakistan
Exporters Associations.
He briefed them on tax policy, including the tax relief
measures introduced for exporters in the recent budget, while also hearing
their concerns and discussing possible measures to address them, said a press
release issued.
Bilal Azhar Kayani highlighted the Export Facilitation
Committees notified by the government following the budget, saying the
committees were intended to facilitate exports, help resolve matters raised by
exporters, provide an effective mechanism for the amicable resolution of
disputes, and ensure exporters were not subjected to harassment by tax
officials.
He reaffirmed the government's resolve to prioritize
export-oriented industrial growth, assuring industry stakeholders of continuous
policy support and open channels of communication.
Industry representatives welcomed the dialogue, sharing
practical recommendations to address tax-related operational matters and
accelerate export performance.
The exporters appreciated Minister Kayani's commitment
and continued efforts to address industry concerns, facilitate exporters, and
create a more conducive environment for export-led growth.
The session brought together prominent business leaders
and senior representatives from major national trade bodies. Key participants
included Mr. M. Babar Khan and Mr. Faisal Arshad Shaikhi (PHMA); Mr. Mahmood
Nara and Sh. Shafiq Jhokwala (PAKSEA); Mr. Amir Amin Kothawala and Mr. Ejaz
Khokhar (PRGMEA); Mr. Athar Bari and Mr. Aamir Hassan Lari (TMA); Mr. Abdus
