June 24, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index concluded Monday's trading session at 78,232.10 showing a decrease of 578.40 points or 0.73%.

The index traded in a range of 1,220.69 points showing an intraday high of 79,388.12 (+577.63) and a low of 78,167.43 (-643.06) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 148.58 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 21 closed up, 75 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.

KSE-100 index was let down by Commercial Banks (351.91pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (96.24pts), Cement (79.31pts), Automobile Assembler (61.85pts), and Technology & Communication (37.64pts).

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Power Generation & Distribution (183.46pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (13.26pts), Glass & Ceramics (5.41pts), Synthetic & Rayon (1.13pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (0.41pts).

Companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (106.29pts), MEBL (103.62pts), BAHL (92.86pts), MTL (59.12pts), and LUCK (47.76pts).

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were HUBC (212.1pts), HBL (22.04pts), MCB (15.71pts), NESTLE (8.1pts), and TGL (7.32pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 49,395.96 with a net loss of 421.99 points.

Total market volume was 385.18 million shares compared to 471.34m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs15.45 billion showing a decrease of Rs5.03bn.

There were 187,897 trades reported in 432 companies with 122 closing up, 254 closing down and 56 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 36,779 points or 88.73% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,781 points, equivalent to 25.27%.
